What is the definition of a ‘Regular Coffee’? To be honest, it could be whatever you normally drink! It also depends on the nation in which you reside. Many individuals in Australia like a latte or ‘flat white.’ Many individuals in the United States choose black filtered drip coffee or espresso. Espresso is the regular coffee in Italy. For our purposes, however, a regular coffee shall be defined as an espresso.
Some mornings, all you want is a fast dose of espresso to get you going. On other days, you want to gently sip a whole mug of coffee. Does Nespresso, on the other hand, make regular coffee?
The quick answer is that it has the ability to brew regular coffee. The longer answer, though, is that you’ll need the proper model. Continue reading to learn how to make a regular cup of coffee with Nespresso.

What Are Nespresso Machines?
OriginalLine Nespresso
This classic range includes single-serve coffee makers that use a hermetically sealed capsule of ground coffee to make a ristretto, espresso, or lungo.
Nespresso collaborates with well-known brands like Breville and DeLonghi to provide a wide range of Original espresso machines, and it’s this diversity that sets them apart in this competition. There’s a Nespresso Original coffee machine for everyone, regardless of their budget, space, or preferred espresso drink.
Nespresso VertuoLine
The new VertuoLine was initially introduced by Nespresso in 2014. It was created with the North American market in mind, where bigger coffees are frequently chosen over espresso.
VertuoLine’s claim to fame is that it produces five drink sizes, ranging from a single espresso to a 14 oz coffee, using special barcoded coffee pods and a unique extraction technique.
Can You Use Your Own Coffee With Nespresso?
Nespresso machines were created to brew a particularly unique type of non-drip coffee. That all changed in 2014 with the introduction of the Nespresso VertuoLine coffee machines. While the Nespresso OriginalLine coffee makers can’t create conventional drip-style coffee, the new VertuoLine can!
When it comes to the OriginalLine coffee makers, there is no shortage of Nespresso machine manufacturers or models; however, the alternatives for Nespresso machines that can brew normal coffee are significantly more restricted. The only Nespresso machines that can brew ordinary coffee right now are those under the VertuoLine brand.
The following VertuoLine Nespresso machines are now available:
- Vertuo
- VertuoPlus
- VertuoPlus Deluxe
- Evolvo
How To Make A Regular Cup Of Coffee With Nespresso
Nespresso can be used to create a conventional cup of coffee. While there are other options, we recommend making a cup of ordinary coffee with a Lungo Nespresso capsule. Your Nespresso machine with a milk frother, or a Nespresso machine with a milk frother extension, is required. The steps are as follows:
- Set your Nespresso machine to brew.
- In the Nespresso machine, place one Lungo Pod/Cartridge.
- Put the cover back on.
- Activate the Coffee Button
- The coffee will be removed and poured into your cup at this point.
- We now have a large espresso (Lungo = Large Espresso)

- Using a milk frother, either integrated with your Nespresso machine or as a separate component, froth your milk.
- Fill your Lungo Espresso cup halfway with frothed milk.
- Add sugar (optional depending upon your taste)
The coffee will smell and taste fantastic as a result of the aforementioned. Not only is this a lot easier than, say, grinding your own beans and then filtering espresso, but it also produces a more consistent and better-tasting product.

Pros And Cons Of Making Your Own Coffee With A Vertuoline Machine
There are many solid reasons why someone would believe it’s a good idea to use their own coffee in a reusable VertuoLine capsule, but there are even more compelling reasons why it’s not.
Pros
- Making coffee using reused capsules is environmentally friendly.
- You are not confined to Nespresso capsules and may brew coffee from your preferred roasters.
- It is less expensive than purchasing single-use Nespresso capsules.
Cons
- Because Nespresso doesn’t make reusable Nespresso regular coffee pods, you’ll have to rely on third-party substitutes, which may or may not work well—indeed, they nearly never do.
- You’ll get a weak, diluted, and boring beverage as a result.
- It’s inconvenient and time-consuming, defeating the purpose of purchasing a single-serve, on-demand coffee machine in the first place.
- There are several ways to brew your favorite coffees that are far superior to the traditional method.
- Reusable capsules are weak imitations that can’t come close to giving the same quality as Nespresso pods, whereas Nespresso capsules are created and optimized particularly for use in Nespresso machines.
What Other Coffees Does Nespresso Make?
Any of Nespresso’s coffee-making machines are designed to create a certain sort of coffee – espresso, as the name suggests. If you’re a coffee connoisseur, though, you’ll know that espresso is accompanied by an incredible array of other beverages. Anyone who has ever arrived at a coffee shop unprepared understands the situation.
If you become tired of your espresso, here’s a list of alternative espresso-based beverages you may try brewing with your Nespresso coffee machine:
Latte
This is the second time this drink has been mentioned in this article. An excellent latte is made with 13 oz. espresso, 23 oz. steamed milk, with a gentle hazy layer of foam on top. Latte is particularly effective at giving you a delicious fatty flavor while also giving you a burst of energy. While you still have the chance, try making a little sketch on the foam.
Cappuccino
If you adjust the proportions slightly, you’ll have another popular espresso-based recipe! To make a great Cappuccino in the morning, combine equal parts espresso, heated milk, and froth.
Mocha
To prepare a mocha, you’ll need to add additional ingredients to the above-mentioned recipe. If espresso and steaming milk aren’t enough, add a sprinkle of chocolate syrup to satiate your chocolate needs.
Conclusion
Although Nespresso Original Line machines do not create normal coffee, they may be used to make a delicious Americano. If you really want a regular cup of coffee, go for the VertuoLine now you know how to make a regular cup of coffee with Nespresso. Of course, if you don’t want to drink espresso, a standard coffee machine will save you money. Take advantage of your Nespresso experience!
